LegalBriefcase doesn't guess. Every answer follows a two-step retrieval-then-synthesis pattern designed to eliminate hallucinated citations and keep you anchored to primary Ugandan law.
When you ask a legal question, our engine first queries authoritative Ugandan sources — ULII, the Parliament of Uganda, and the Uganda Judiciary — and pulls verbatim statutory text. No synthesis happens at this stage; only exact retrieval.
A second, separate AI pass then synthesises an answer using ONLY the verified provisions retrieved in Step 1. Web search is disabled during synthesis, so the model cannot introduce new, unverified citations.
Our system prompt globally forbids paraphrasing statutory text unless explicitly requested, preserving the integrity of legal language.
When a provision cannot be confidently verified, results are tagged "[Unverified — verify at ulii.org]" rather than fabricated.
Every legal stance cites the Acts and sections it draws from, so you can trace each claim back to primary law in one click.
LegalBriefcase is an informational tool, not a substitute for an advocate. For complex matters, always confirm with a qualified legal practitioner.
